About the Owner
Ethan Pickett, MA, CTRS
Ethan Pickett is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) with a Bachelor’s of Science in Recreational Therapy from the University of Toledo (UT). He continued his education by receiving a graduate degree with a Master’s of Arts in Recreation Administration and Leisure Studies from UT in 2013. During this time, he was a graduate assistant that taught recreational therapy courses to future professionals. While completing his graduate degree, he worked part-time at ProMedica Flower Hospital’s psychiatric unit. From his experience, he knew his niche was to provide a client-focused approach to therapy. Pursuing his passion, he joined a well-respected company in Indiana as a contracted recreational therapist. During this time, he harnessed his skills needed to become a certified Indiana Medicaid waiver provider and founder of Pure Abilities Therapeutic Services. In 2020, he co-founded the website, Rec Therapy Directory, a comprehensive resource for all things recreational therapy. Ethan is currently a board member for Down Syndrome Association of Northeast Indiana (DSANI), Autism Society of Indiana member at large, and advisory board member for the University of Toledo Recreational Therapy program. In 2023, Ethan was Fort Wayne’s Business Weekly Forty Under 40 Winner. He continues to be involved in helping to improve the lives of the developmental disability population in his community.
